Black had the largest percent of student body in Holmes Consolidated School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 76.6% of the 2,502 students enrolled in Holmes Consolidated School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 26.3% decrease from the previous school year.

Holmes County Central High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 826 students.

A snapshot of Holmes Consolidated School District schools showed 76.6% of students were Black and 23.4% were multiracial.

Holmes Consolidated School District roughly covers seven schools within Holmes County and has a main office in Lexington.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
