What background was most represented in Grenada School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

Black students made up 49.5% of the 3,806 students enrolled in Grenada School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.9% decrease from the previous school year.

Grenada Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,921 students.

A snapshot of Grenada School District schools showed 49.5% of students were Black, 46.7% were white, and 2.8% multiracial.

Grenada School District roughly covers three schools within Grenada County and has a main office in Grenada.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
