White had the largest percent of student body in Calhoun County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 49.4% of the 2,180 students enrolled in Calhoun County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 5.4% decrease from the previous school year.

Bruce High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 479 students.

A snapshot of Calhoun County School District schools showed 49.4% of students were white, 31.2% were Black, 13.2% were Hispanic, and 4% multiracial.

Calhoun County School District roughly covers six schools within Calhoun County and has a main office in Bruce.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
