What background was most represented in Attala County School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

White students made up 39.3% of the 1,002 students enrolled in Attala County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 7.1% decrease from the previous school year.

Ethel Attendance Center had the highest enrollment in the district with 283 students.

A snapshot of Attala County School District schools showed 39.3% of students were white and 37.7% Black.

Attala County School District roughly covers four schools within Attala County and has a main office in Ethel.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
