54.5% of students in Choctaw County are Male in 2021-2022 school year

Of the 1,218 students in Choctaw County schools, 54.5% were men and 45.5% were women, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

The previous year, the student body across Choctaw County schools was 55% men and 45% women.

Ackerman Elementary School in Ackerman had the highest number of boy students while Choctaw County High School in Ackerman had the most girl students.

There are four schools within Choctaw County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
