Of the 2,180 students in Calhoun County schools, 53.1% were men and 46.9% were women, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

The previous year, the student body across Calhoun County schools was 52.8% men and 47.2% women.

Bruce High School in Bruce had the highest number of boy and girl students.

There are six schools within Calhoun County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
