Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Grenada County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 3,904 students enrolled in Grenada County schools in 2020-2021, 49.2% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Grenada County students.

This is a 0.7% increase over the previous school year.

Grenada Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Grenada County schools showed 49.2% students were Black or African American, 47.4% were White and 2.4% were Two or More Races.

There are three schools in Grenada County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
