Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Grenada County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 4,012 students enrolled in Grenada County schools in 2019-2020, 48.5% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Grenada County students.

This is a 0.1% increase over the previous school year.

Grenada Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Grenada County schools showed 48.5% students were Black or African American, 48% were White, 2.3% were Two or More Races and 0.5% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are three schools in Grenada County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
