What background was most represented in Attala County schools in 2019-2020 school year?

Of the 3,338 students enrolled in Attala County schools in 2019-2020, 53.6% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Attala County students.

This is a 2.1% increase over the previous school year.

Kosciusko Senior High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Attala County schools showed 53.6% students were Black or African American, 42.2% were White and 1.3% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are nine schools in Attala County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
