Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black or African American highest represented background in Holmes County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 2,965 students enrolled in Holmes County schools in 2019-2020, 98.8% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Holmes County students.

This is unchanged from the previous school year.

S.V. Marshall Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Holmes County schools showed 98.8% students were Black or African American.

There are six schools in Holmes County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
