White had the largest percent of student body in Calhoun County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 2,381 students enrolled in Calhoun County schools in 2019-2020, 51.5% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Calhoun County students.

This is a 1.1% decrease from the previous school year.

Bruce High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Calhoun County schools showed 51.5% students were White, 31.7% were Black or African American, 11.7% were Hispanic or Latino and 2.6% were Two or More Races.

There are six schools in Calhoun County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
