Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians - The Choctaw Elderly Activity Center Hosted Their Re-Opening Celebration on Monday, August 22, 2022

The Choctaw Elderly Activity Center hosted their Re-Opening Celebration on Monday, August 22, 2022.

Alyssa Ben, Director for the Department of Family and Community Services and 2022-2023 Choctaw Indian Princess Cadence Nickey welcomed everyone back during their opening remarks.

Pastor Thomas Ben gave a few words and offered the invocation.

Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben spoke about the resiliency of the Choctaw Elders and how he was happy to see the center open again.

The celebration continued for the rest of the day with a traditional lunch being served in the dining area and bingo games played in the main room.

The Center closed its doors during the Covid-19 pandemic but had started a drive-thru lunch program to continue serving the Elders. They are now back to normal operation, open from Monday through Friday. Welcome back, Elders!
