On May 7th, 2022, at approximately 5:28 pm, officers were dispatched to a fight in progress at 777 West Jefferson Street. Mr Ashley McKee, pictured below, sustained an injury to his face during this altercation. No parties involved wished to sign charges and Mr McKee refused medical treatment at the scene so he had to be released. Although, a short time later, officers were dispatched to the hospital where Mr McKee was involved in another disturbance. He was issued a post arrest citation for this, and left in the care of the medical staff due to the severity of his injuries. Later that evening, unbeknownst to Mr McKee, a KPD officer observed Mr McKee walking on foot. Mr McKee, not realizing that an officer was watching to see what he was doing, approached United Medical, and picked up a rock and broke out the front glass door to the building and entered. KPD officers approached Mr McKee immediately when they observed this occur. Mr McKee was not compliant, and had to be tasered to be placed into custody. Mr McKee was charged with Breaking and Entering (Felony).
