Among the ethnicities represented in Calhoun County schools, white was the most prevalent among the county students in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.
Of the 1,425 students attending Calhoun County schools, 50.2% were white. Black students were the second most common ethnicity, making up 39.2% of Calhoun County student body.
In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Calhoun County, representing 49.8% of the student body.
Bruce Elementary School had the most diverse student body in Calhoun County including Black, Hispanic, white, and multiracial.
In the 2023-24 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county dropped 31.5% when compared to the previous year.
